Waiver

We, the parents and/or guardians of ________________ acknowledge and approve of  the participation of our son and/or ward in the Columbia Broadcast System (henceforth CBS) production of The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey.

We have been made aware of the producer's intentions, including having our child test the legitimacy of one hypothesized scenario in which a ten-year-old child bludgeons another much younger child with a Maglite ®, and that the conditions of that event will be replicated by having our child strike, with as much force as possible, a human skull that has been outfitted with a layer of pig skin and a blonde wig.

We recognize the possibility of and will not hold CBS, its affiliates or sponsors responsible for psychological or behavioral issues that may arise subsequent of our child's participation in the program, which may include but are not limited to: nightmares, insomnia, waking nightmares during prolonged bouts of insomnia, spontaneous weeping, unusually complex emotional reactions to skulls, wigs, pork products or tactical flashlights, disproportionate sensitivity to depictions of or discussions of murder, and also, of course, the actual commiting of some future homicide.

We understand that the tactile experience of fracturing a human skull will remain in our child's sense memory for as long as he lives and our concerns have been addressed to our satisfaction by a CBS representative who might, for all we know, be a counselor or something.  Although we, the undersigned, have been assured of and agree with the notion that the long term consequences of this activity are so unlikely as to be considered laughable (in the opinion of a full 65% majority among consulted mental health professionals) we don't hold CBS responsible for any long term emotional damage and are not even suspicious that they brought it up on the first place.

Furthermore, we acknowledge the right of CBS to investigate and produce a prime time special investigating the circumstances of any incident suspected of involving the child twenty years forward of that incident.
